Barry Francis Quinn, 71, of Honeoye Falls, passed away in his home on Saturday, February 10, 2018. He was predeceased by his mother, Verona Stephens; uncles Robert Stephens and Richard "Pete" Stephens; aunt Roberta Stephens Kantrowitz; and grandparents, Archie and Gertrude Stephens of Greenwood, NY. He is survived by his wife, Martha Young Quinn; son, Andrew Quinn; daughter, Katherine Quinn (Arthur Siegel); two granddaughters, Julia and Anna Siegel; sister, Beverly Quinn Ryan; aunt, Margaret Findlay Stephens of Canisteo, NY; four cousins; two nieces and one nephew.
Barry was an Eagle Scout and graduate of Greenwood Central School. He joined ROTC at Alfred University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in ceramic engineering. As a US Army Ranger, he served 4 years in Germany and over 25 years in the Reserves. He graduated from the US Army War College in Carlisle, PA prior to retiring as a Colonel.
Barry's professional work included roles as shift foreman at Corning Glass; process engineer at Pinco / Joslyn; quality control manager at Consler; and project manager at NYSDOT where he later became the Rochester region's utilities engineer. Upon retirement in 2013, he was elected the Statewide Transportation Professional of the Year by his peers.
Always eager to serve his community, Barry volunteered for the Boy Scouts, the Honeoye Falls – Town of Mendon Historical Society, and Rochester Engineering Society. He organized twelve MS Bike Ride teams and was a life member of the Greenwood Masonic Lodge.
A memorial and reception will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Honeoye Falls on Thursday, February 22 at 6:00 PM, with a Masonic service starting at 5:30. In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute in Barry's memory to the Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease Foundation or to a charity of their choice.
