Jean Giordano

Obituary of Jean Giordano

Jean [Theresa Jean Donelson] Giordano entered upon Eternal Life on November 11, 2017. A native of Hamilton, Ontario, she was born on September 28, 1929. After coming to live with her sister, Virginia [Ainsworth] in Mendon, she married Sam L. Giordano of Irondequoit - an enduring marriage of 64 years. They took up residence on Nile Drive and raised three children, Daniel, [now deceased], Linda (Houley) and Thomas where they were surrounded by many who became long -time friends.

In the "old neighborhood" Jean was known as the Cookie Lady, keeping a supply of chocolate chips at the ready. At the holidays, she and her sister would bake up a storm making sure the delectables reflected the joy of the season. Jean was a loyal volunteer at The Twig shop at Rochester General Hospital for over 30 years. An accomplished artist in her own right, she taught ceramics both in Irondequoit and in the Florida community of Harbor Isles where she and Sam maintained a winter home. Although more a hobby, she could be found with a skein of yarn by her side and a set of knitting weapons in her hand.

It is an understatement that she will be sorely missed but fondly remembered by us who survive her: Sam, her husband, Linda [Houley], her daughter, along with her husband Joe; Tom, her son along with Faye his wife; Daria Giordano, her daughter-in-law; her grandchildren, Andrew [his wife Deena]and Virginia Houley, Isabella Giordano; and her great grandson Gareth Houley [Andrew]. In addition, Jean leaves her sisters-in-law Margie Cammarano of Rochester and Greta Donelson of Hamilton Ontario. In addition, Jean leaves they many nieces and nephews and their children who were so part of her life and for whom she cared even from far away. We are confident that she will not be forgotten by the members of the Reeves family whom Jean remembered with great affection.

Friends may call Tuesday 5-7 pm at the Merton H. Kays Funeral Home, Inc. 59 Monroe St. Honeoye Falls. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wed. 10 am at St. Dominic Church, 97 W.
