Obituary of Melinda J. Smith

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Melinda Jill Smith into the arms of the Lord at the age of 45. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a cherished daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Mendy lived her life with grace, strength and unwavering faith. She had a deep love for Jesus, which shined through in the kindness she showed to everyone she met. She was a shining example of servanthood, love and loyalty, always putting others before herself.

Her passion for life was evident in the things she loved most–her love of God, His creation, her husband and soul-mate, Dan, and kids, Kellan and Harper. They were her greatest joy and she poured herself into them.

Mendy leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and faith that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Our hearts soar when we consider that she is in the presence of the Lord. We remind ourselves that while this is the end of her physical life on earth, it is the beginning of an eternal beautiful journey for Mendy.

She leaves behind an adoring family, including her parents, Larry and Jeanie Nihiser and her four doting big sisters, brothers and extended family.

Family will receive friends on Friday, February 28th, 2025, from 4-7 pm at Merton H. Kays Funeral Home (59 Monroe St., Honeoye Falls, NY 14472). A service to honor and celebrate Mendy's life will be held at Wheatland Community Church (6746 E River Rd, Rush, NY 14543) on Saturday, March 1st at 10:30 am.
