Obituary of Jeffrey D. Hume
Jeffrey Douglas Hume of Honeoye Falls, NY, born September 27, 1941 died April 19, 2025.
Survived by his two beloved cat companions Lucy and Patches and younger sister Marilyn, Beverly and Kimberly. Predeceased by wife Terry (Mary Theresa Sweeney) after 54 years of marriage in 2019 and only child, son Scott David (1991) who was 43 years old and a hospital administrator in Boston, Massachusetts.
Retired in 1996 from the Greece Central School District as a shop/industrial arts/technology teacher after 31-year career and although having taught all the areas covered in the field (metals, wood, graphic arts, photography, drafting, electricity/electronics, plastics and ceramics), his specialties were in graphic arts/design and photography which he carried on professionally in his retired life. He was a NYS licensed driver educations instructor including special needs students and taught many Adult Education photography classes and also did consulting in the field.
BSEd graduate of SUNY Oswego in 1965 and was the first in his family to ever attend college. His interest in many areas led to nearly enough graduate hours in different disciplines past his Masters degree to qualify for a Doctoral degree. He was a published writer and photographer, most often accepting private commissions for his work but especially loved photographing race cars at many national and international tracks throughout his 60+ year career.
Empathic, generous, loyal, animal lover, always optimistic and with a quick, funny and often clever double entendre sense of humor and with his word as his bond, he had many friends across the country as well and internationally.
No services, interment private, and if possibly thinking of something once happening while you were with him that makes you smile, hoist a drink to his memory, preferably a good twelve-year-old single malt, which he enjoyed.
