Beste Familie Schouten,

Tante Corrie,
You were my only aunt in the United States, and yet you gave me the warmth and love of an entire extended family. I will always cherish the dresses you made for me—hand-sewn with care and love, each one a quiet expression of your nurturing spirit.
You and Ome Simon did more than just open your home—you opened a door to a new life by sponsoring my parents’ journey to the United States. That selfless act shaped our family’s future, and I carry immense gratitude for all you gave.
Some of my happiest childhood memories are with you: our Sunday gatherings full of laughter, playing games with Hilaireen and Maggie, swimming in the pool, and sailing in Sodus Bay and Fairhaven. You created a space where we felt safe, loved, and connected.
Thank you for your gentle strength, your quiet generosity, and your loving presence in my life. Your memory is stitched into my heart forever.
With love always,
Your niece, Diana vanRoon
