Neil was my phys ed teacher at Monica Leary School in the late 60s and early 70s. I ran into him occasionally over the years. Always a class act. Just an all-around great guy. My condolences to the family.

Jen, Elizabeth and Alexander-
I am so sorry for your loss. I know how heartbreaking it is. I enjoyed reading about his role in the sports community. I didn’t realize that. I am guessing that this made him extra especially proud of your sports accomplishments, Elizabeth and Alexander!

I am deeply saddened by the loss of such a remarkable individual. His kindness, generosity, and bright spirit touched everyone in the high school and college soccer referee community. My heartfelt condolences go out to Phyllis and the family during this difficult time. Neil’s work on behalf of NYSCOS at many NYSPHSAA Boys State Soccer Championships, coordinating referee assignments, made them a success. For many years he was the NISOA Regional Representative for NY and New England, working at the national level. He was well respected, and his ideas were well received. He was a legend in the collegiate soccer referee realm, and we are better for having known him and his contributions. May his soul rest in peace.

Neil’s family
It’s a privilege to call Neil our friend. He was positive force to his family, friends, as a teacher and coach in RH schools.
Neil was a humble man who set a fine example to all who knew him. I called Neil my minute man who was ready to go on short
notice to a Bonaventure basketball game or Red Wings baseball game. Rest in peace Neil . Jack & Cindy Quinn

Coach Edkins was a big influence in my life and so many others in RH. Gave my my first job as an RHAA coach and umpire. Taught me a lot about handling people! Accelerated my baseball career as an 8th grader on his Freshman team and encouraged me when I hit a speed bump with a Math class. He was a steady, wise influence who was always there. My sincere condolences to the Edkins family, I hope knowing how much your Dad did to help others will help you during this time. God speed to my fellow Cortland Red Deagon! Save a spot for me on your team in heaven Coach.
