Obituary of Lucille M. Stein
Lucille Marie Stein, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 5th at the age of 81. She was surrounded by family during her final days.
Born on May 4, 1944, in Dansville, NY. Lucille lived a life marked by kindness and compassion, selfless love, and dedication to her family. Her warm smile and listening ear were genuine and made everyone around her feel welcome and cared for. Her unwavering faith gave her a quiet strength and grace that was resilient and inspiring.
She married Richard Stein in 1962, and they were together for their 63rd wedding anniversary on September 1, 2025. Some of her greatest happiness came from memories of her time on and around Conesus Lake with family and friends. Lucille is fondly remembered for the devotion and joy she brought to the many families she touched throughout her 32 years in the Dansville school district.
She is survived by her husband, Dick, 3 children: Douglas Stein (Shelly), Dennis Stein (Elizabeth) and Dawn Mattle (Andy). Grandchildren include Jessica Stein, Derrick Stein, Ryleigh Mattle, Reid Mattle and Madison Stein, along with 4 great grandchildren, and her sister, Shirley Terry. Her family was her pride and joy, and she devoted herself wholeheartedly to supporting their happiness and well-being. Her loving memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at St. Agnes Church, 96 prospect Street, Avon, NY at 10 am, with a reception to follow. All who knew and loved Lucille are welcome to attend and celebrate her life.
We pray that her gentle spirit will live on in the hearts of those who love her-and in every act of kindness, every warm meal shared, and every story told with a smile.
