Rosemarie E. Sheridan Obituary

February 5, 1934- March 15, 2026

Rosemarie Else Bookjans Sheridan passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026, at St. Johns Home.

Rosemarie was born February 5, 1934, in New York City, NY, to Herman and Bertha Bookjans. Her family relocated to Rock City, NY, and Rosemarie grew up working on the family farm. She graduated from Red Hook High School and attended the Hudson River Hospital School of Nursing, in Poughkeepsie, NY.

Rosemarie worked for several nursing homes as a CNA. She later worked for IBM as a department technician and attended Marist college classes through the IBM education program. After retirement from IBM, she worked as a nanny for several families and later relocated to Brighton NY to help raise her granddaughter.

Rosemarie loved to help others, and this was exemplified by her volunteer work at places such as the Dutchess County Special Olympics, the ARC of Monroe and sewing children's items for various charities. She loved sewing, gardening, animals, and enjoyed being with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Rosemarie was pre-deceased by her parents, Herman and Bertha, and her brother, Herman.

She is survived by her daughter Maureen Beaver and son in law Robert Beaver, her son James Sheridan, her son Thomas Sheridan and daughter in law Alison Sheridan, her daughter Kristine Devito and son in law Frank Devito and son Paul Sheridan and daughter in law Jennifer Sheridan. She is also survived by seven beautiful grandchildren: Julianna, Hailley, Isabelle, Terra, Jack, Violet, and Hazel.

A celebration of her life will take place later in the year. A gift in Rosemarie's memory can be made to the Rochester Regional Hospice (rochesterregional.org).

The family wishes to extend thanks to the staff at St. Johns Home and Rochester Regional Hospice. Their excellent care provided comfort to Rosemarie in the last years of her life.
