Harlene Gilbert Obituary
Harlene Gilbert, 76, of Geneva, New York (formerly of Romulus - or Romulan space), passed away on Sunday, April 19th, with her family in Lima, New York.
One thing Harlene didn't love was minutiae, and this author doesn't think you really want to know where she went to high school.
What Harlene loved and worked tirelessly for was community and those whose voices are not always raised up. Her career was spent working with and advocating for children, doing her best to make her corner of the world a little better. Her time away from work was spent volunteering, getting roped into organizations too numerous to list, and in conversation with friends whose love and support her and created her extended family. Her private life was spent loving and supporting her children, who will miss her deeply. Above all, she loved coffee and Clam, her cat.
In lieu of flowers or food, please make a donation or volunteer for a cause you're passionate about. Some of Harlene's favorites were Literacy Volunteers of America, Geneva Reads, Happiness House, NPR, and Temple Beth El.
For those who would like to come together, there will be a gathering on Sunday, May 3rd, from 1-4 at Seneca Lake State Park, Lakeside Pavilion Number One.
