John W. Alfieri Obituary

John William Alfieri

03-03-1934 04-05-2026

John Passed away peacefully on Easter Day with his caregiver of many years,

Cathy Sharpe, at his side.

He is survived by daughters Katherine Orenic (Greg) and Margert Ball (Russell), grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces.

Predeceased by his loving wife Lorretta (Jean) Alfieri and two sons Anthony and Joseph.

Born in Buffalo, NY, he attended Buffalo State University Collage. He served in the United States Air Force as a Captain and was honorably discharged in 1964. After the Air Force John became a technical writer and, in his career, he worked at various companies including Bausch & Lomb, Sybron/Taylor Instruments, IBM and Xerox.

He enjoyed all kinds of electronics from building his entire stereo system, including tube type amplifiers and tuners, to his custom speaker towers, and fine tuning all his cars throughout the years because "the factories didn't have them right". He also enjoyed sport fishing and pheasant hunting with his dog, Leader.

After retirement John and Jean enjoyed attending many Renaissance Festivals together especially the Sterling Festival in Central New York where they made many friends. He enjoyed opera, photography, gardening and day trips with Jean.

Thank you to Rochester Regional Health Hospice Care for helping us be able to make John comfortable in his home until his passing.

A special thank you to Jim and Pennie Alfieri, Barbara (Alfieri) and Paul Domville, Liz Maul, Richie Sharpe and especially Cathy Sharpe for caring for John in his home.

He always said "85 years old is good time to call it quits" he certainly missed that one.

He will be missed. He now has joined Jean in the afterlife.

God Bless

John William Alfieri
