Obituary of Lawrence E. Brassie

Lawrence "Larry" E. Brassie of Mendon, NY passed away on January 17, 2015 at Benincasa Hospice Home in Mendon, surrounded by his family. Larry was the oldest of 4 children, born to Lawrence and Olive in Rochester, NY. He was a graduate of Aquinas Institute and LeMoyne College. He served in the US Army during WW II and the Korean War. He married Helen Holdsworth on Nov. 27, 1954. Larry acquired lifelong friendships through association with the Rochester Amateur Radio Association and as a 50 year member of the Mendon Fire Dept. He attended St. Catherine of Siena Church where he was an employee for over 20 years. Larry enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and spending time with his family. He had the opportunity to travel on Mission 26 with Honor Flight of Rochester in October of 2012. Larry is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen Brassie; children, Michael, Catherine Parrish (Norman), Rick (Lori), Laurie (Mike), Mark (Sue), David (Kristine) and Scott (Tracy); son-in-law, Terry Parrish; grandchildren, John, Ethan, Chet, Lukas, Emma, Morgan, Chloe, David, Christopher and Matthew; several sister-in-laws, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews and step grandchildren. Larry was preceded by his brothers, Justin, Richard and Robert, and his grandson Patrick Parrish. Friends will be received at the Merton H. Kays Funeral Home, Inc., 59 Monroe Street on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015 from 4-7 pm. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Catherine of Siena, Mendon on Friday at 10 am.
