Obituary of James M. Wood
James Michael Wood, 80, of Henrietta passed suddenly yet peacefully Thursday, November 9th, 2023. He was predeceased by his father, Arthur Wood Sr, first wife; Shirley Braun Wood, sisters; Patricia Smith, and Geraldine Wood, brothers; Arthur Wood Jr., and Robert Wood.
James is survived by his wife; Elsie (Ellie) Day Wood, mother; Josephine Wood-Widener, daughters; Lori-Ann Chapman (Kevin), and Lisa Ann Hansen (Scott Norris), sons; Raymond Ford (Andrea), and William Ford. Grandchildren; Nathan, Eric, Marissa (Alex Vananda), K.C., Erin, Adam, and Courtney. Sisters; Bonnie Neale, and JoAnn Church (Thomas). Many nieces, nephews, and a large extended family.
Family meant everything to Jim (Bompa). He was so very excited to welcome his first great-granddaughter; Blakely Eden Vananda, this coming March.
Jim with his first wife, Shirley, enjoyed camping, fishing, and just hanging out with the girls. Later in life, Jim was blessed with his wife Ellie along with two amazing sons. His children grew to four and he couldn't be more proud of all of them.
Jim had many interests but the most memorable were his CB times with the handle termite, photography, camping, and fishing. Jim worked for the Honeoye Falls-Lima Central School District for 32 years. Jim's time at Honeoye Falls-Lima was some of the best times of his life. He looked forward to going to work every day to be with his co-workers, friends, and students. He especially enjoyed the younger students.
Jim was also active with the Honeoye Falls Fire Department from 1972-1989. He and his family were all involved with the fire department and it wasn't unusual for the whole family to be there at the same time. There were so many things he enjoyed doing during his service with the fire department, but one of his favorite things to do was helping with setting up and running the carnivals. He will be missed by his many loved ones.
Friends may call Wednesday, November 15, 2023 from 4-7 pm at the Merton H. Kays Funeral Home, Inc. 59 Monroe Street, Honeoye Falls. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to the Honeoye Falls Fire Department www.honeoyefallsfd.org
