Obituary of Joan M. Shattuck




Joan M. Griffin Shattuck, 92, passed to Our Lord on Friday, January 19, 2024.


Formerly, Sr. Ann Celine of the St. Joseph Order who taught extensively in Rochester and surrounding areas, having received during her tenure of over 22 years, many Accolades of Honor and Achievements.


Pre deceased by husband William P. Shattuck,

Parents Leo F. Griffin, Sr. & Gertrude A. Griffin.

Sister and Brother, Camilla (Kenneth) Weller, Leo Jr. (Barbara Ann) Griffin.

Brother–in-law, Luigi J. Maltese.


Survived by her sister, G. Diane Griffin (Maltese) Whitmore and brother-in-law

Bruce G. Whitmore.


Survived by daughters and son by marriage Pamela, Theresa and Howard Shattuck

  Pre deceased sons – Michael and Jeffrey Shattuck.

  Survived by Granddaughter, Joanie DePratt and other family members


Survived by Nephews; Steven, Mark and Christopher Maltese    

                                     Timothy and Keith Griffin.

Survived by Nieces;    Susan and Mary Weller.


Survived by Great Niece & Nephews; Nicole, Luke, Elijah and Tagen Maltese.


Joan’s last four years was in residence at St. Ann’s Community in Rochester where she received the utmost care from aides, nurses, social worker, doctors, care providers, and near the end of life from Hospice nurses. This family cannot express how grateful we

are in the dedication given to Joan during these past years. God’s Blessings Always.


A small intimate family gathering took place at Merton Kays Funeral Home in

Honeoye Falls, NY on Saturday, January 20, 2024 and was officiated by

Deacon John Hoffman.


Joan’s remains were interned at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Batavia, NY; where she will be placed next to her beloved husband, Bill.


Masses will be provided by family members throughout the year at her parish

                 St. Mary, Our Lady of the Hills, in Honeoye, NY.
