Obituary of Beverly J. Nies

Beverly J. Nies of Honeoye falls passed away peacefully July 8, 2024 at the Episcopal Nursing Home in Rochester N.Y. with her son and daughter by her side. Bev was 97 years old, the daughter of Leroy and Laura Whitehead. Beverly was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Herm Nies, and her sister Estelle Barone. She is survived by her sister Bebe L. DeRenzis of Georgia, her son William (Diane) Nies, daughter Rebecca (Jim) Krause. Five loving grandchildren Frances (Ian) Nielson and Alex Nies. Bert Krause, Molly (Shaun) Anderson, and Zach ( Jenn Casselbury) Krause. Six Great Grandchildren Ben, Owen, Silas Sloan, Sawyer and Maeson , her dog of 11 years, Belle and many nieces and nephews.

Family was always her highest priority and pride and she was fortunate to have them close and supportive throughout her life. She worked alongside her husband and son in their shared business, Springwater sprouts for 34 years. She was a lover of books and a believer of religious ideals who taught her children about the works of Hemingway, Thoreau, Schweitzer, Dylan Thomas and favored Mahatma Gandhi to name just a few. Bev was a passionate lover of animals, a philanthropist, accomplished painter and a writer of poetry. She was an independent and strong willed woman whose sense of humor, sweet smile and giggle will be held in the hearts of all who knew her. A Celebration of Life will be offered in the near future.
