Obituary of Ronald W. Charron
Ronald W. Charron (8/7/1936 – 1/16/2025)
Ronald W. Charron, 88, of West Bloomfield, NY died at the NYS Veterans' Home in Batavia on January 16, 2025.
Ron is predeceased by his wife Helene "Kay" Shetler Charron (2010), parents Walter C. Charron and Ruth E. (Gruber) Charron, brother Karl D. Charron and sister Jean "Jeanie" (Charron) Buckland. He is survived by daughter Michele and son-in-law Gary Gefell, daughter Andrea and son-in-law Robert Stein, and his four grandsons Stephen Gefell, Matthew (Alice) Gefell, David (Morgan) and great-grand daughter Hazel Gefell, and Jacob Hagen.
Ron was well known as being a "busy body". For decades he was an active member and supporter of various West Bloomfield organizations: founding member of the Ambulance Corps, Fire Department, West Bloomfield Congregational Church, Senior Citizens, and elected as Town Justice (1994 – 1997). He was a 55-year member of the Freemasons, served as the Monarch of the Lallah Rookh Grotto (1976), 46-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star where he served in many local, district and state positions (Grand Patron 2005). He was a 40-year member of the American Legion Francis M. Dalton Post 282 where in his later years he enjoyed a daily Coors Light with the "guys". He will be remembered for his under the breath and often inappropriate and ill-timed comments, his sense of humor, and his devotion to volunteerism, friends, and family.
Masonic and Order of the Eastern Star Services will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 1:45pm followed immediately by a memorial service at the West Bloomfield Congregational Church (9035 NY-5, West Bloomfield, NY). In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the West Bloomfield Congregational Church, the West Bloomfield Fire Department or the Order of the Eastern Star Hall and Home Foundation.
