Obituary of Philip A. Goetzmann

Philip A. Goetzmann, Lt. Col Retired of Honeoye, died peacefully at his home on July 13, 2014 at age 84. Philip was predeceased by his parents, Harry E. and Ruth E. Goetzmann; his sister, Grace Drews Kern and brother, Donald E. Goetzmann. He is survived by his wife Cynthia; children, Philip A. (Karen), Sarah W. (Jeffrey) Phillips; John J. (Gia) Wright; Richard A. (Lynne) Wright; grandchildren, Blake, Melissa, Joshua, Jeffrey, Lindsey, Sam, David, Paige, Victoria, Sean, Christopher and Nickolas; great granddaughter, Olivia and great nephew Philip; brothers, Paul G., Harry E. (Sylvia), Clark A. Goetzmann; sister-in-law Katie Goetzmann. He was born in Buffalo NY, a graduate of Bowling Green University and served in the US Army from 1954-1977 a veteran of the Korean Conflict and the Viet Nam War. After the war he settled in Honeoye, NY to design and build his dream home on the hill where he and his wife lived for 30 years. His family will receive friends Sunday, August 31, 2014 from 1 to 3 pm at the Canadice Methodist Church, followed by a Memorial Service at 3 pm. No flowers please; memorial contributions may be made to Canadice United Methodist Church, 5949 County Road 37, Springwater, NY 14560 or Honeoye Public Library, P.O. Box 70, Honeoye, NY 14471. The family would like to thank all of Philips wonderful caregivers, especially Michelle Shumway, the Ontario-Yates County Hospice and the Canandaigua VA.
