Obituary of Marie K. Moffitt

Marie K. Moffitt (Sullivan) of Honeoye Falls at age 90, unexpectedly on Saturday, July 25, 2015. Born in Rochester, NY. Predeceased by her parents, John L. & Rose (Knittel) Sullivan, and brother John "Jack" Sullivan. Survived by her loving, devoted husband of 68 years, Harland D. "Hank" Moffitt, sister Virginia (Edwin) Fleche of Irondequoit, sister-in-law Caroline Moffitt of Honeoye Falls, daughters Susan (John) Connelly of Honeoye Falls, Ginny (Eric) Baker of Lima, and son John D. (Carol) Moffitt of Honeoye Falls, 8 grandchildren: Maureen Sloth, Christina Sanfilippo, Eric C. Baker, Andrew Connelly, Matthew Baker, Ned Baker, Heather Moffitt, John D. "Jack" Moffitt, Jr., 12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Marie attended St. Andrews Catholic School and was a graduate of Our Lady of Mercy High School. She became an RN, training at St. Mary's Hospital and worked as a private duty nurse at Monroe Community Hospital. As a school nurse teacher, she worked in both the HF-L and Bloomfield Central School Districts before retiring in 1981. Marie and Hank opened Dipper Dan Ice Cream Shop in Honeoye Falls in 1989, which is still family operated today. She and Hank loved Big Band music and dancing. Spending time together with family was an important part of her life. Friends and family may call at the Merton H. Kay Funeral Home Inc., 59 Monroe St., Honeoye Falls on Friday, 7/31 from 4-8 pm. Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, 8/1 at 10:30am, St. Paul of the Cross Church, 29 Monroe St, Honeoye Falls. Private Interment at Honeoye Falls Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Catholic Charities of Monroe County.
