Obituary of Peter James Cannon

Peter James Cannon, age 18 of Honeoye Falls. Born December 10, 1991 at Honeoye Valley Family Practice in Honeoye Falls where his mother is still a nurse. Born into Eternal Life, February 20, 2010 at 10:05 AM at Strong Memorial Hospital where he was treated following a car accident in Richmond, NY on County Road 37. He is survived by parents, Bill and Sue Cannon of 30 Ontario St., Honeoye Falls, NY; siblings Matthew (Barbara), 26; Emily (Fianc, Glen Labenski), 23 and Brian, 10; Grandmother Rosemary MacDougall and Grandfather Richard Cannon and numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Predeceased in death by his Grandfather Donald MacDougall and Grandmother Lillian Cannon. Peter was a senior at Honeoye Falls Lima High School and had hoped to attend the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. In addition to academic excellence as a member of the National Honor Society, Peter was a member of the Cross Country, Track & Field and Nordic Ski Teams at HFL. Peter was scheduled to compete at the State Nordic Skiing Championships on Tuesday, February 23, 2010. Other awards, recognitions and volunteer efforts include: Boys State ('09), Cougar Brother and Sister Program, School 28 Tutor, Green Team, SADD. When Peter wasn't skiing, running, conditioning, studying or volunteering he was training with the Explorers through the Mendon Fire Station and participating in numerous Catholic Youth Ministry activities through St. Catherine of Siena parish in Mendon. Friends and family will be received during visitation on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 26 Mendon Ionia Rd., Mendon, from 1-5 pm and 7-9 pm (numerous sponsored gatherings will be posted at church). His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, February 26 at 11 am at St. Catherine's. Reception immediately following his mass at St. Catherine's Msgr. Schnacky Community Center. Interment, Honeoye Falls Cemetery, which will be private.
