I will always remember Mrs. Slagle in the kitchen while Karen was on the phone with whatever guy was chasing her that week. Then Mrs. Slagle would listen, with those blue twinkling eyes, while Karen and I sat on the other side of the counter, giggling about whatever! She always knew what Karen was up to, and even when she pretended to be mad, she couldn't help it and broke into a big grin! Great Lady, Mrs. Slagle!
