Obituary of Marjorie M. Garay

Marjorie McCarty Garay of Honeoye Falls died at home on Sunday, June 13, 2010. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Gustav John Garay; her daughter Suzanne Garay Tulloch, son in law Kenneth Andrew Tulloch, grandchildren Ian Andrew and Madeline Southers; her son Gustav Christopher Garay, daughter in law MaryAnn Garay and grandchildren Samantha Leigh, Elizabeth Rebekah and Ryan Christopher. Jo Marie Banahan, sister, resides in California. Marjorie's extended family included California school friends, dear friend Karen Fitch, as well as nephew Timothy Banahan, and grand nieces and grand nephews. Born the daughter of Leo McCarty and Loretta Southers on March 29, 1934 in Sacramento, CA. She received her Bachelor's of Arts from University of California at Berkeley and a Master's of Education from the University of Rochester. Marjorie taught secondary school for 37 years. 21 years were at Pittsford middle School, 10, teaching children with learning disabilities. She will be remembered as a life long educator and supporter of all children and education. Marjorie was a longtime member of the Century Club of Rochester. Her life will be Celebrated during her Mass of Christian Burial at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 26 Mendon Ionia Road, Mendon on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 10 am, her friends may join the family for the mass and also a luncheon to follow in the Msgr. Schnacky Center. Burial, Mendon Cemetery. Her family is grateful to all of the members of Life Time Care and Pluta Cancer Center who cared for her. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pluta Cancer Center 125 Red Creek Drive, Rochester, NY 14623.
