Obituary of William E. Benham

It is with much sorrow we announce the passing of William (Bill) Benham on July 28, 2010 after a long battle with kidney disease. Loving husband to Joann Glover Benham for 52 years and son of Clarence and Edith Benham, born July 21, 1923 in Canandaigua, New York. Beloved father to Sherry, William, Robert and his wife (Molly), Nancy and her husband (Chris). Nine wonderful grandchildren: Rebekah, Matthew, Peter, Alexandra, Gina, Jay, Adam, Mark and Emily. He is survived by his wife Jennie Gleason Benham of Daytona Beach, Florida and his sister Jeanne and her husband Art Gresens. Raised in Canandaigua, New York he graduated from the University of Rochester. He was employed for many years at Fasco Industries in Rochester, New York as the Director of Human Relations. In his later years he became Vice President of Human Relations for Rochester Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Bill was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater. He was active in the Town of Mendon serving on the town board for many years, a faithful member of the community of Honeoye Falls active in Rotary, Village Players, St John's Episcopal Church and Little League. Affectionately nicknamed Buddy, he was a man of true character. He dedicated himself to the pursuit of service to his family and friends and to his community. His jovial and winsome manner made him a delight to be with and a friend to many. He will be missed! Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of his Life Service, Saturday, August 7, 2010 at 12 pm at St. John's Episcopal Church, 11 Episcopal Avenue, Honeoye Falls. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Grace Episcopal Church in Gainesville, Georgia or to the charity of your choice in his memory
