Obituary of Corinne M. Routly

Corinne M. Routly of Mendon, NY, on this day, March 12, 2013 in the evening, our beautiful, feisty, Bana left to walk on without us. In this life, she was predeceased by her husband, Norman H. Routly, several infant children, all of her brothers and sisters and her in laws, most notably George and Jean Herrick. She is survived by her loving daughters, MaryLynn Gleason and Laurie Ann Heelon and her son in law Donald Heelon; her granddaughters, Katherine Leigh Heelon and Kristen Joy Heelon; her great granddaughter, Ryleigh Joy Corinne Heelon; nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. She is also survived by her cat Pierre and grand dog Trudy. Born in 1919, Corinne's life was long and full. She was raised in Charlotte with her large family and was a graduate of Charlotte High School. Corinne worked at the Button Company and Rochester Telephone Company prior to and through WW II. She married Norman H. Routly on June 22, 1940 and when he was drafted and went into the Unites States Navy, Corinne kept the home fires burning when he was stationed on Saipan in the Pacific Theater. Through the years after the war, Corinne worked in the accounting departments of Lincoln Alliance Bank, Central Trust, and Security Trust. She was a Girl Scout Leader for over 25 years, active in the #24 School PTA and had a life long fascination with politics. Corinne was a member of the 13th Ward Republican Women's Club, and was a member and past President of the Monroe County Federation of Republican Women. Corinne was also past President of the New York State Federation of Republican Women and, in addition, Corinne was the first woman in the Town of Mendon to hold the post of Leader of the Mendon Republican Party. Corinne retired from the office of secretary of the Mendon Zoning and planning Department in 1996. Corinne was also a member in good standing of the Eastern Star and was very active with the Daughters of the Nile. The family would like to thank Dr. Mendelsohn and Highland Hospital Hospice 7th floor for their wonderful care. There will be no prior calling hours at Corinne's request. Her Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 11 am at Downtown United Presbyterian Church (formerly Brick Presbyterian Church), 121 N. Fitzhugh St. Rochester. Brief reception to follow the service provided by the deacon's of the Downtown United Presbyterian Church. Corinne's burial will be private and for immediate family only. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Corinne M. Routly's name to the March of Dimes or the Shriners Burns Hospital.
