I never had the honor of meeting Kade, but as a United States Marine he will forever be a Hero of mine.
I was lucky enough to have worked with his sister, Meaghan. I LOVED when she occasionally told fun and funny stories about Kade and her family! Those times reminded me of experiences with my own brother, family, those i love, that all happened pretty long ago. Thanks for helping me remember and making me smile.
Thank You, Kade. Thank You, Kade's Family. What a Handsome Man we all could love. What a Beautiful Family who nurtured that in him.
'Holding all good thoughts for Noah..
Peace,

As a youth soccer coach to Kate, perhaps age 8 at the time, he was a frolicking, fun-loving ray of sunshine – and quite a mischievous, at times, challenging lot to handle. Cute as hell, he was pure inspiration, energy and joy. Those things exceeded his talent and athletic skill, very obvious even at that age. A kid you just don’t forget.

I will remember Kade O'Brien as living his life, chasing his dreams, enjoying his friends, and being a soldier long before he joined the marines.
He was not afraid of being himself. His example was honesty with sensitivity, advice with humility, encouragement without false promise.
He would soldier on in the face of challenges and uncertainty. As a team member, he did his job well and lifted the spirits and abilities of those around him.
He instinctively stood up for others, protecting anyone and bullying no one, earning the respect of everyone.
He was quick to offer help to family, friend and neighbor, and didn't hide from hard work or tough tasks.
He dissolved tension with his quick smile, helped others to laugh, many times at themselves or himself, but not at the expense of someone else.
His life was a success in LIVING, in doing his best in whatever he did, earning enduring friendships, unqualified respect, and brightening the lives of those he knew.
He will never be gone, but will live in us all that knew him. We in turn honor his memory by living the lessons he left with us.
"Success: To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others;
to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Ralph Waldo Emerson

I met Kade in 2004 fresh out of boot camp where Kade and my husband Darryl first met. Kade instantly became family. Darryl and Kade and many others spent the next 4 years paying their dues to the military making great Marines. Kade would always push Darryl and Darryl would always push back both with a mission to do it bigger and better. I have been so blessed to have known Kade and have him as a part of my life and a part of Darryl’s life. I truly believe that Darryl and Kade had a bond that was not like most …and it makes this so much harder! When Kade and Darryl both left the military in 2008, Darryl and I had just had our little girl. I remember Kade telling me how he wanted to be a father one day….little did he know he would get that chance; what a blessing in disguise! I myself have never met the O’Brien family or Noah but I have heard so many great things! Kade truly loved his family and Noah, and loved his friends back home …but most importantly like Mrs. O’Brien mentioned he loved to live life! Kade’s extended family and friends here in Maryland send out our prayers to Kade’s family & friends in NY and across the states!! Kade will always hold a place in my heart and will never be forgotten!

Dear, sweet Kade was one my very first tutorial student many years ago, along with his sweet little sister Meghan. Kade must have been in 3rd or 4th grade, and all summer long, we worked on reading and vocabulary skills. God knows the cute little guy would have much preferred playing outside to studying, but Kade persevered politely and diligently, because mom and dad were providing this outside help for him. May years later, I ran into Kade in the HF-L wellness center, and read in the Sentinel about his service and success. I was proud then to know that he was doing well and living his dream in the marines. My heart aches and breaks for his mom and dad as well as for little sis, big bro, and young child! My thoughts and prayers are with them all as they face this incredible challenge. May Kade's love of life and dedication to family and country live on!
sincerely, Denise Kuebel
