Obituary of Alma L. Smith

Alma L. Smith of West Lake Road, Geneseo, NY and formerly of Honeoye Falls, NY died suddenly, November, 27, 2011 at age 87 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. Alma was born the daughter of Clarence and Lucille Thrall Wills on April 9, 1924 in Cuba, NY. She and her husband Leland were caretakers of the Marcus Park Swim Club in Honeoye Falls for almost 30 years. Her last employment was at the Pittsford Wegmans working in the bakery, or as some called her the "Cookie Lady". Alma was predeceased by her sister, Marjorie Stafford and her brother, Clifford Wills. She is survived by her devoted husband of 69 years, Leland; her daughters, Randa (Paul) Foster of Arkport, Leanna Shirley of Rochester and Sally Smith of Geneseo; her six loving grandchildren, Paul (Susan) Foster, Kenneth (Debbie) Foster, Carrie (Roy) Hawkins, Joseph (Jean) Shirley, Michael Shirley and Kathleen (Greg) Farrington; 6 great grandchildren; very close family friend, Lori Updyke and several nieces and nephews. Alma was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Alma enjoyed spending time with her family, doing handcrafts and cooking as well as participating in church and Grange activities. Friends may call Thursday, December 1, 2011 from 3-7 pm at the Merton H. Kays Funeral Home, Inc. 59 Monroe Street, Honeoye Falls. Her Funeral Service will be held Friday at 11 am at the First Presbyterian Church, 27 N. Main St. Honeoye Falls. Burial will take place at Oakridge Cemetery in Lima.
