Obituary of Marcella P. Matthews

Marcella Pugh Matthews passed peacefully at home on March 16, 2012. Marcella was a graduate of the University of Rochester Nursing School and served as a surgical nurse in Strong Memorial Hospital for over 30 years. She was a Red Cross Volunteer for many years and served in a number of natural disaster areas and conducted blood drives in many local communities. Marcella was valedictorian of her Brighton High School class and an accomplished pianist. Husband Russell Clarence Matthews preceded her in death in October 2011. They were married 66 years. She was the wife of a farmer and was always available to help on the farm. Survived by Son Russell (Bill) Matthews grandsons Derek and Brian Matthews. Son John Matthews, daughter-in-law Cindy Groet Matthews, grandsons Adam and Jared Matthews. Daughter Margaret (Peggy) Matthews Entrekin, son -in-law Philip Entrekin and grandson Colin Entrekin. Sister Irene Pugh Copper and Brother-in-law William Copper, brother Arthur Pugh and Sister-in-law Nellie Pugh Friends may call Sunday March 18, 2012 from 1-2:30 pm at the Merton H. Kays Funeral Home, Inc. where services will follow calling at 2:30 pm. Burial, Quaker Cemetery, Mendon.
