I was sad to hear of Jean's passing. As a fellow early childhood educator, I shared her enthusiasm for the Child Development Associate credential process. Our discussions helped me as I worked with staff pursuing a CDA. The greater Rochester ECE area gained much from her work to improve our understanding of quality interactions between children and their teachers. My thoughts are with you. Know that Jean has left a positive, long lasting mark in the quality of local ECE.

Our first memory of you was when our son attended St. John's nursery School. Then later we reconnected when our children worked on musicals together. You touched so many lives in your career and in your daily life. Jean will be missed by many. Our deepest sympathy to you Tom and the family. Our prayers are with you. The Sextons

Jean has been a good friend to me since the beginning of my book club membership. She has known how to love many, I think. She was deeply interested in my work as a special education teacher of young children, and we shared many stories. I have loved the sound of her laughter around the old oak table at the former library space where we met all those years, and knew she could always be counted upon for a firm opinion.
She came to visit me for a chat in my former home near the library, and she sat in the rocking chair in my kitchen for a long while, catching up on news, drinking tea, moving into the kind of loving meaningful conversation territory that has meant a great deal to us both. I picture her in that rocking chair as I write this, and send her and her family my love and prayers.

Towards the end of the CROP walk - ten years ago? - I was trying to keep my then 5 year old in good spirits. We turned the corner and there in front of St. Paul's was Jean sitting at a table with plates of oatmeal raisin cookies! She was the unexpected angel in so many lives and will be missed.

We were so sorry to hear about Jean. She was a wonderful nursery school teacher to Kristen, Erin and Daniel back in the 80's. We still remember her special touch with children. God bless your family at this sad time.

Jean was a dear, long time member of our folk group & choir and will be deeply missed by us all. She was the one member who "tried" to keep Eric Baker under control. Our thoughts and prayers are with Tom and the family during this sad time. Heaven has received a beautiful new angel.

I am so grateful for the friendship that existed between Jean and my mother, Helen Iekel. Though a generation apart, they shared so much both in mind and spirit. I have no doubt that mom was at heaven's gate to greet Jean and to welcome her home. Jackie & I offer our deepest sympathy to Tom and the family.

I have many memories of Jean, and she was always happy to see me. I remember the goats, the invites to the Jersey shore, the Christmas caroling and her welcoming nature. She was always interested in what others were doing, and was willing and able to give advice and help. A wonderful woman who gave a lot. She will be missed.
