Obituary of Danny Bears
Danny Bears, 54, of Honeoye Falls, New York, died on July 4th from a heart attack, while sailing with his family near the island of Anguilla. Danny was born in Rochester and was predeceased by his parents George and Mary Lou (Michaud) Bears. Dan's father's job with Kodak took the family to England where Danny attended the American Community School Cobham. He played basketball, soccer, lacrosse, and rugby and enjoyed adventures in Switzerland (skiing), France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy and Austria. He returned to the States for college and graduated from New Hampshire College.
Danny married the love of his life, Marcye (Gregg) in 2003. They dedicated themselves to sharing and teaching their love of nature, sports, philanthropy and family to their 5 children, Cody, Cortney, Cayla, Chance and Carlee.
Danny and Marcye's desire to make a difference in children's lives and in their community motivated them to build their successful business Bears Playgrounds. Their nature inspired playgrounds brought joy to families and children in all 50 states as well as many other countries across the globe.
Danny's passion for the outdoors, and all things play, was reflected not only in his business but also in his personal life. He had enjoyed playing his guitar, sailing, playing hockey, mountain biking and snowboarding. His enthusiasm for love, life, adventure, as well as kindness, wisdom and empathy have been a gift to the many people with whom he has shared his life.
In addition to his wife and children, Danny is survived by his sisters, Debra (Frank) Streisel, Angela (James) Farkas and Sheryl (John) Radesi, the Hayes Family, nieces and nephews, Krista, Jesye, Holly, Alexandra, Philip, Kyler, and Caitlin.
