Barry was one of the finest officers I ever worked with in the 98th Division. He was a true gentleman and a real leader. We were good friends for many years after retirement and I will miss him very much.

Colonel Quinn and I go back a long way. I grew up in Independence, NY, not far from Greenwood. My wife's family was from Greenwood, Jasper and Andover. It was always nice to see Barry outside of a formal setting so we could talk about life in the Southern Tier. I considered him a friend as well as an officer. I consider myself blessed to have known him.

Barry was the Battalion Commander of the 1/391 TSB unit located in Buffalo. I was the Unit Administrator for that unit. Barry was my supervisor.
Each weekday during his lunch break he would call me to get an update on the day-to-day activities of the unit. He was not only my boss but also a good friend.
Although we have not seen each other for several years, I often think of him and the good times we spent together as co-workers and friends. He was a good man who will be missed by many. My condolences to his wife and family. I am sorry I was not able to attend the services for him.

Martha, Andrew, Katie, and your families: Marilyn and I were deeply saddened to hear of Barry's passing. We only wish would could have been there to help. We will be unable to attend the Memorial Service but we'd like to send along a reminder of the good times we've had. This photo was taken in the Headquarters of the 10th Engineer Battalion, Larson Barracks, Kitzingen, Germany on June 5, 1970. LTC George Page, Commander of the 10th, is promoting me to Captain. 1LT Bill Burke, already promoted, is to the left and Barry is to the right and will be promoted next. It seems like this was only yesterday. Others in the photo, from left to right, are Dan Nettesheim, Steve Rust, and Marty Rollins. I'm sure all of them will be as saddened as we were by this news. We'll keep you in our prayers. Marilyn and Mike Ellicott.

Dear Martha, Katie & Andrew,
Bob & I are so saddened to hear of Barry’s passing. Please know you are in our thoughts & prayers at this time & in future.
We remember Barry as such a kind, caring person, didicated to his Lord & family. I can see his wonderful smile & hear his voice.
We have been gone from HF since fall of 2011 having moved to Columbus, OH to be near family. (Kylie lives here, Kevin is in Maryland & Kari in Las Vegas.)
I have to tell you 2 great memories of effort by Barry. First I was looking for a friend from college who was member of Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ-Latter Day Saints. He went through the proper channels & found her for me so we were able to communicate again.
But the larger memory is his willingness to join amy brother Larry on his cross country bike ride while in southern NY. They had so much fun even though they ran into flooded roadway at one point.
Please take care & we pray you can feel God’s loving arms around you st this time. God bless.
Bob & Carolyn

To Barry’s Family,
It was my pleasure to row with Barry on the Genesee. I met him at the start of my adult rowing career where I knew few of the rowers. I recall how easy it was to talk with Barry, and enjoy his kind and gentle manner as he welcomed me to rowing. Thanks for sharing him with us. I am so sorry for your loss.

Although I never worked for Col Quinn directly, I would meet him at the 98th Division professional development days. He was one of the most approachable Senior Officers I had contact with. He had a rapport with everyone he came in contact with enlisted and officer alike. Always with a smile and kind word. It was people like Col Quinn who made serving in the military enjoyable. RIP Col Quinn. (Hand salute)

Martha, Andrew, and Katie-
We are so sorry for your loss. Barry was such a wonderful man, and we are truly sorry that we didn't get to spend more time getting to know him. I am forever grateful for the privilege to care for Barry in his last few months. I have never seen a more loving, caring, supportive family in all my years doing Hospice. Andrew, I still think you missed your calling. You were an absolutely amazing caregiver for your father and gave him a tremendous gift. You are all in our prayers.
Much love,
Cathy and Brad Allen
