Obituary of Joseph M. Germonto
Joseph Germonto at age 77, of Holiday Florida, formerly of Honeoye Falls, passed away March 9, 2018. Joseph was predeceased by his late wife, Kathleen Germonto; and daughter, Tammy Feenin and his Sister Patti Jo Hopkins. He is survived by his Loving Companion, Joyce Bennett of Holiday, FL.; Children, Bonnie (Paul) Toarmino of Avon, Laurie Germonto of Pensacola ,FL, Lisa (Tom) Keeler of Rochester, Barrita (Jeff) Shanks of Lima, Joseph Germonto of Pittsford and Marcus Germonto of Kansas City, MO; Grandchildren, Christine (Colin) Bradley, Kimberly (Tim) Pancoe, Jennifer (Justin) Beigel, Wesley Mead, Michael (Vang) Westjohn Jessica (Steve) Cheesman, Nicole Lawrence, TJ Keeler, Tanya Keeler, Joshua Creager, Laura Shanks, Kelly Shanks, Gavin Germonto, Shannon Germonto, Joseph Germonto. 14 Great Grandchildren; Siblings, Martin (Sylvia) Germonto of Holiday, FL, Eloise (Orville) Eckler of Bradenton ,FL, Larry (Katie) Fioretto of Watertown, NY and Richard (Anne) Fioretto of Watertown, NY; brother-in-law Gary Hopkins of Watertown, NY. Many nieces & nephews.
Joseph was born on May 2, 1940 in Watertown NY. He lost his mother at a young age and was placed in an orphanage till he was old enough to work on a farm. He entered the US Army in 1957. Upon discharge from the US Army he met his eternal love Kathleen. They raised 7 children together. He was a loving husband, father and friend to all he knew. Family was most important to him. He was very involved in school, sports and activities with all his children. Joseph was employed at R.I.T for most of his adult life. He was part owner of an industrial cleaning company with his brother Martin. He also worked as a bus driver for HFL Central School and part-time as a handyman at Pinehurst Senior Living. Once he retired, he enjoyed being a Ranger at Lima Country Club and hitting the course in his free time. While spending his winters in Florida he was elected President of the Home Owners Association where they lived. He held that position until his death. He left a lasting impression on everyone he met. With his kindness, dedication and commitment to helping anyone in need. He will be deeply missed by many.
