Obituary of Robert E. Greene

Robert Edward Greene March 23, 1935 to October 1, 2018 Robert Greene, the namesake of the "Bob Greene Newark Valley Cross Country Invitational" passed away at his home on October 1, 2018. He was a wonderful father, husband, and son. Bob grew up in Syracuse where he graduated High School at Onondaga Valley Academy in 1954 and Oswego State College in 1962 and 1969. He married his wife of 55 years and moved to Newark Valley where he worked as a HS teacher for 32 years and as a coach for 30 years while raising their children Heather and Cary. After retirement they moved to the Rochester area. He is predeceased by his wife Janice (Muir) Greene, parents Pansy Lena (Brough) and William Greene, siblings Mike, Lois and Raymond. He is survived by his two children, son-in-law Bob Balmer, four loving grandchildren (Kara and Jada Balmer, Skye and Willow Greene), sister, Mildred MacDonald, sister-in-law Barbara Greene and many many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Family and close friends are invited to share memories at the Merton H. Kays Funeral Home in Honeoye Falls on Sunday October 28th at 1:00pm, luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Newark Valley Cardinal Sports Boosters at 68 Wilson Creek Road, Newark Valley, NY 13811.
