Obituary of Dianne Johnson Pegg

Dianne Dawn Johnson Pegg, age 67, of Rush, New York, passed away Monday, September 3, 2012 at her home. She was born May 28, 1945 in Mena, Arkansas at The Redman Hospital to the late Ralph Johnson, Jr. and Madge Johnson. She was united in marriage December 30, 1967 in Mena at The First United Methodist Church, to William Joy Pegg, Jr.. She graduated from Mena High School and received her Bachelor of Music degree in piano and minor in voice from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. She worked at Hochstein School of Music & Dance in Rochester, New York beginning in 1984 as a children's group and private piano teacher, children's chorus director and through the music therapy department a senior citizen chorus director. Within the United Methodist church she was a church organist for congregations at Ontario Street and Asbury Delaware, Buffalo; Seneca, Pittsford, Fairport, and Rush in Rochester, New York as well as church choir director at Ontario Street, Asbury Delaware, Fairport and contemporary music director at Rush. In the larger community she was part of several choral groups. Throughout her career she taught students privately in her own studio. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend that will greatly be missed. Survivors include husband, William Joy Pegg, Jr. of Rush, NY; daughter, Emily Pegg Haines and husband, Timothy Smallridge Haines of Pittsford, NY; grandson, Jonathan Joy Haines; mother, Madge Carper Johnson of Rochester, NY; aunt, Mildred Gallegly of Raleigh, NC; cousins, Lynn Wood Ashley and family of Mena, AR, Keith Cox Wood of Bentonville, AR, Ken and Kathy Wood of Prosper, TX, Beth Wood Strickland and family of Bentonville, AR, Priscilla Gallegly Hackney and family of Raleigh, NC, Howard Hall and family of Mena, AR. A Memorial Service to celebrate the life and journey of Dianne will be Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Rush United Methodist Church with Rev. Margaret Scott officiating. Burial will be held privately at Whitehaven Memorial Park in Pittsford, New York.
