Walford Anderson

Obituary of Walford E. Anderson

10/31/20 Honeoye Falls, Wally (Walford) E. Anderson Jr., 76, beloved husband of 53 years to Linda Anderson, passed on suddenly and unexpectedly. Proud father to Rob of Florida and Brian (Jeanie) of West Bloomfield; treasured Papa to grandchildren, Jenni (Peter) Barkley, Alex (Nigel) Millick, Amanda, and J.P. and great grandchildren, Abby, Isaac, and Elizabeth; devoted sibling of Barb Rayburn and Skip (Patty) Anderson; loving uncle to numerous nieces and nephews; brother-in-law Tony DiMariano, and countless best friends. Predeceased by sisters Becky DiMariano and Sharon Downey, brothers-in-law, Dick Downey and Don Rayburn. Wally graduated from Honeoye Falls High School in 1963 and went on to serve in the United States Marine Corps from 1964-1968. He retired from Southco Inc. after 22 years then began an extremely fulfilling, rewarding career as a Certified Nursing Assistant at FF Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua. Wally devoted a very generous amount of himself in helping family, friends, and friends he hadn't yet met. He was the Commandant of the Memorial Day Detachment #468 Marine Corps League, past Commander of the American Legion Post 664 in Honeoye Falls, and helped coordinate local Toys For Tots drives. Wally regularly volunteered at the Welcome Home ceremonies for Honor Flight Rochester, the Veteran's Administration in Canandaigua, and was a Deacon at West Bloomfield Congregational Church. Wally loved unconditionally, ever in pursuit of uplifting and serving others. He was an avid reader, enjoyed being part of a bowling league, loved golfing with Brian, JP, and dear friends, was the most loyal fan of Bri's softball team, and never missed watching a Bills game with his family. Wally loved and lived in a way we all should- intentionally celebrating each day and each individual. Wally embodied light and joy and will be profoundly missed as will his Olympic gold winning hugs.
