Obituary of Carmelo T. DiStefano
Carmelo T. DiStefano passed peacefully at home on December 5th, with his family by his side five days shy of his 98th birthday. Predeceased by his wife Dorothy, his daughter Susan Carpenter, son Charles DiStefano, son-in-law Michael O'Brien, three brothers Anthony, Joseph and Arthur and his sister Josephine. He is survived by daughters Joanne O'Brien, Patricia Erdeli (Scott), Lisa Cessna (Tom), son-in-law Geoff Carpenter, 10 grandchildren,19 great grandchildren, dear friend Portia Jackson, brother Richard, sisters Grace and Rose, many nieces and nephews, his stepchildren and their families.
Carm was born December 10th, 1922 in Rochester, NY. He served in World War II in the 550th Anti-Aircraft Battalion in England and Europe. Serving his country was the greatest honor of his life. His family will remember him for witty jokes. He will always be our hero.
Burial with military honors will be held this spring at Miller's Corners Cemetery in Ionia, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Honor Flight Rochester PO Box 23581 Rochester, NY 14692.
