Kenneth Jenks

Obituary of Kenneth R. Jenks

Kenneth Richard Jenks, age 87, of West Henrietta, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2021, at home with his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Fay, and devoted daughters, Amy (Dave) McGeough, and Lynn (Jamie) Friello, grandchildren Kari and Matthew, brother William, daughter-in-law Kim and her daughter Melanie. He was predeceased by his son Steven and brother Robert. Ken was born in Syracuse, NY and attended Onondaga Valley Academy, where he met the love of his life, Fay Eileen Wells. After high school he served in the Navy from 1952-1956 as Mineman 2nd Class, with time aboard the USS Hornet during the Korean War. He worked at AT&T as an Operations Supervisor for 39 years until his retirement. Ken spent his free time tinkering with electronics, woodworking and keeping his yard in pristine condition. When he retired, Ken and Fay traveled along the Atlantic Coast to see the lighthouses and frequented Daytona Beach as well. He also racked up countless hours in genealogy research, tracing his family roots back to the Mayflower. Ken enjoyed the simplicities of life: time with his family, a good day of yard work and after dinner naps. A private family service will be held at a future date. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of the Rochester & Finger Lakes Region (https://www.alz.org/rochesterny) or to the USS Hornet Museum, PO Box 460, Alameda, CA 94501 (donations@uss-hornet.org).
