Mr. Van Lare was a true asset to any group or organization that he was part of. As a fellow veteran and former student, I will always remember his wisdom and positive attitude. He was one of those inspirational folks who made you a better person. I salute you, sir, and thank you for your great work.
I never had a class that I enjoyed more than Mr. Vanlare's. A great person and teacher that I will never forget. Even when I would run into Don 10-40 years later he still remembered me. His teaching and humor I can still recall. Regrets to all his family.
My deepest sympathy to the Van Lare family. I served with Don in the USNR in Rochester from 1963-69. He was an outstanding individual and will long be remembered.
