Obituary of Susannah K. Lyle
Susannah K. (Lewis) Lyle, age 79, died Monday September 5, 2022.
Suekay was born June 22, 1943. Suekay was the daughter of the late Everett and Gertrude (Rebman) Lewis.
She is predeceased by her husband, Roland D. Lyle and her sister Leslie (Lewis) Wamblod.
Suekay graduated from Honeoye Falls High School in 1961. Thereafter, she attended S.U.N.Y. Geneseo where she graduated with a Bachelors in Education in 1965. She married Roland D. Lyle on October 10, 1964. She taught in Dansville for 2 years before they had 3 children: Eric, Cori and Michael. Suekay taught Kindergarten and 3rd Grade at Honeoye Central School from 1975 until 1998 when she retired. She was a teacher that parents often requested for their children: able to manage a classroom full of energy and enthusiasm with kindness and grace.
Upon retirement, she found joy in spending time with her friends, children and grandchildren. She and Roland traveled many places around the world: Rafting the Colorado River, Australia, New Zealand, Egypt, Europe and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary sailing through the Panama Canal. One of her favorite trips was traveling across the US stopping at many national parks and exploring the country in a way that she reflected on fondly.
Suekay was a member of Honeoye Lake Rotary and was the recipient of the esteemed Paul Harris Award for making outstanding contributions to the community. The Lyle family hosted 8 exchange students through Rotary International Student Exchange Program.
When she retired, she and Roland built their dream home on Keuka Lake. This was not only a place they enjoyed being together, but more so, they loved having their family join them there. There were many days of boating with friends and family, clam bakes to celebrate the beginning and end of every summer and hours of jumping off the end of the dock with their grandkids. Their time on Keuka Lake was a time of respite and joy.
Suekay is survived by her children: Eric (Lisa) Lyle of Honeoye Falls, Cori (Larry) Zacher of Geneva, IL and Michael Lyle of Canandaigua; grandchildren: Liam, Sophie and Cassie Lyle, Megan and Molly Zacher, Alex Cavanaugh, and Gabe and Erin Hill; her two sisters Judy Lewis and Victoria Bush.

The next place that I go will be as peaceful and familiar as a sleepy summer Sunday and a sweet, untroubled mind…There is not a single thing I have collected in my life that I would ever want to bring except…the love of those who loved me, and the warmth of those who cared. The happiness and memories and magic that we shared. Warren Hanson, The Next Place
