Words cannot express how saddened I am to learn of both Walt and Ann's passing. They are by far the best neighbors anyone could ever ask for. My children grew up loving to visit Mr. and Mrs. Pennington for a warm hug, a tasty snack, and lots and lots of stories. Christmas was always celebrated with a huge bag of homemade treats including Mrs. Pennington's famous English muffin bread, which was carefully monitored to be rationed out fairly Although we have not lived next door to Walt and Ann for several years, we never went by the Lanphere's without wondering aloud how they were doing and enjoyed stopping by on a few occasions to catch up.
There are far too few examples in the world of genuinely kind people who wanted nothing more than to make a positive difference as Walt and Ann did. I hope that Cameron and AJ can take comfort in knowing how proud your grandparents were of both of you and the joy that they took in sharing your latest accomplishments. Our deepest condolences to all. Rest in peace together Walt and Ann.
Love- The Phelps

He will always be"Joe" to me. Joe and I first met in the 6th or 7th grade in Lima. We became friends and, without a doubt, Joe was my best friend through high school, college and thereafter. We were basketball and baseball teammates, and good friends in high school, getting together for lots of extra curricular fun.Since those Lima days we've remained good friends. Although I left Lima and eventually moved to the West Coast, we remained in contact with each other over those many years. One of my favorite highlights of our relationship with each other was a visit from Joe and Ann to our home in Oregon. We a enjoyed a week of skiing and recalling old memories. A time I'll never forget. It was like we were back in the early 50's. I know he'll be missed by his family. How fortunate we are to have had his presence in our lives.....a true gentleman! Please accept my deepest sympathy.

Bob and I would like to extend our condolences to the entire family with the passing of both Ann and Walt. They were both great people and we enjoyed many years of friendship at Bristol. Ann would always save a spot at her table for breaks and lunches where they shared many stories of their family. Rest in peace, Bob and Esther.

Besides my parents paying my way into ski club in 4th grade, this man is single handedly responsible for my love of skiing. I went on to be ski club president my senior year of high-school and have had four 100 ski-day seasons. All tolled I'd put my time at the ski areas in my 22 years here in CO at somewhere north of 700 days. In those 22 years I've missed getting out there for at least one day only once. The memories that this man indirectly gave me will last my lifetime.
Until we meet again...
