Obituary of Corrine May Smith

Corinne M. Smith, 91, died Wednesday, January 1, 2014. Born in Herndon on October 22, 1922 (daughter of Henry and Clara Phillips Klinger); she was a resident until 2004 when she moved to Rochester, NY near her son Garcia and his family. January 1, 1943, she and Seth W. Reed married at the Zion Lutheran Church in Herndon. Seth was killed in action (WW II) December 25, 1944. On October 26, 1946, Corinne and Harry L. Smith (Liberty, PA) were married. Corinne was a 1940 graduate of Herndon High School, attended Susquehanna University and during WW II worked as a secretary at the Dept. of War in Washington, D.C. She was a longtime member of Zion Church, serving many years as a Sunday school teacher and superintendant. Visiting friends, relatives, and attending grandchildren events, she and Harry traveled the country. Her passion for dancing and roller skating continued into her 80's. She is survived by her son Garcia, daughter-in-law Diane, three grandchildren: Randy Reed (Baltimore, MD.), Debbie Reed (Charlotte, NC.) and Melissa Woodruff (Lima, NY), and one great grandson, Reed Woodruff. Calling hours are 10 - 11 am, Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Zion Church, Center St. Herndon. Memorial service to follow at 11 am, conducted by Rev. Vicky Bush.
