Dan and Gladdie Broadwell and our family send their sincere condolences to Wayne, Lynn and Terry and their families upon the passing of Mom and Grandma. I (Dan) have so many fond memories of Leona and Don going all the way back to the early 50’s when my mom was so sick and after her passing. They welcomed me to their lunch and/or dinner table on so many occasions. I spent many Saturday evenings caring for “The Boys” while Mom and Dad enjoyed a game night or Square Dancing. All good memories.

My mother-in-law was a kindhearted person and dropped everything she was doing to help anyone. She lived with us for 8 years and helped us raise our 3 kids during that time. She was a wonderful pie & cookie baker and canned items such as strawberry jam, beans, peaches and pears. She tried numerous times on showing me how to make pie crust, but it never came out like hers. She did pass down her cookie recipes, which I still make to this day.
She will be greatly missed by all of us.

The Philipson Family sends condolences to your family. Turns out, we all have fond memories of Leona’s mark on so many Ionians!
We all fought over her cakes on the cake wheel, as they were always THE BEST ONES at the Carnival. Tommy and I especially remember night time basketball games in her backyard – usually followed by some baked goods and ice cream in her ever-busy, (and spotlessly clean) kitchen. We also remember her in the asparagus barn, sorting the haul into various “grades” and sending people home with the best asparagus we’ve still ever had.
May she rest in peace and may her memory be a blessing.
