Obituary of Ralph Otis Banser

Ralph Otis Banser,85, of Honeoye Falls,NY, passed away unexpectedly on September 19, 2023, while camping with his wife and family. Otie was born in Rochester,NY on July 5, 1938. He was a loving, devoted companion to his wife Sheila. They spent 55 years by each other's side whether it was traveling to places like Maine, Alaska, the Thousand Islands, Myrtle Beach or just out to a restaurant and a stop up to the Lima American Legion for a cocktail, they were seldom apart. Otie was an amazing and supportive dad to his children, Brenda Lester and Kyle.  He was ever present for their many activities throughout their lives and could be seen at equestrian events, wrestling matches, track meets and motocross races. Otie was a proud grandfather to his 2 grandsons, Cooper and Chase.  He loved being there for their many activities, telling them stories and just spending time with them both. He was an avid sportsman all throughout his life and shared his love of hunting, fishing and the outdoors with his family.

Otie comes from a close knit family. Predeceased by his parents, Ralph William and Leah Banser and older brother, Joe Skinner.  He is survived by his loving siblings William (Roberta) Banser, Dinah (Robert) McCarthy, Barbara (David) Lonobile and many nieces and nephews. Family was important to Otie, his love and support included all his siblings, nieces and nephews. He truly enjoyed all the family events like camping and holiday gatherings.

Retired from Case Hoyt as a lithographer for many years, Otie never really retired. He went on to be a substitute bus driver at HF-L schools and currently was working for the town of Mendon maintaining the grounds at Semmel Road Park.  At all his jobs Otie developed many friendships.  He always had a smile for everyone, an anecdote to share, a great sense of humor and will be remembered by many.

Per Otie’s wishes there will be no services. Otie really loved all people and was a beloved presence wherever he went. Whether you knew him as Ralph or Otie, please share your memories with each other and know that you were all important to him.
