It is with deep sadness that the family of Ralph Edward Boston announces his passing on October 18, 2023. Ralph was born on April 18, 1938 in Brookline, Massachusetts to parents Frank and Isabel Boston. After spending part of Ralph's childhood in Connecticut, the Boston family settled in Syracuse, New York. Ralph studied speech and drama at Syracuse University, from which he graduated in 1959.
The bulk of Ralph's career was spent working for the State of New York Department of Labor. Ralph was highly regarded as an investigator of insurance fraud. When not working, Ralph spent much of his time creating. He sewed a great deal, making clothes for himself, his wife, and his daughters. He also made beautiful furniture and became quite an excellent cook. Ralph was a local Rotarian for over 40 years. Ralph was always eager for the summer to come around as he and his wife spent several of the summer months at their vacation home on Cape Cod.
Family was very important to Ralph. He was predeceased by his wife, Judith Boston. Additionally, he is survived by his daughters Martha (Edmund) Meskutovecz of Glenville, New York and Lauren (David) Shaffer of Honeoye Falls. Ralph spent many hours with his grandchildren, Matthew (Mollie) Shaffer of Leesburg, Virginia; Elizabeth (Nicholas) Kadick of Raleigh, North Carolina; and Andrea (Benjamin) Demers of Wake Forest, North Carolina. Ralph was also blessed with several great-grandchildren: Evelyn, Mairin, Cecilia, Felicity, and James Shaffer; Beau Kadick; and Audette Demers.
The family would like to thank Creekstone Memory Care and the Friendly Home for their excellent care of Ralph.
A service honoring Ralph will be held on November 4th at 11:00 at Merton Kays Funeral Home, 59 Monroe Street, Honeoye Falls, followed by a graveside service for Ralph and Judith.
