Obituary of Kimberly A. Freund
Kimberly Smith Freund, 56, of Champaign, IL and formerly of Lakeville, NY passed away from a cerebral hemorrhage on May 8, 2015 at Carle Foundation Hospital.
She was born in Rochester, New York, Kim is the daughter of C. Acker and Rosalind Smith. She graduated from Syracuse University and had a successful career in Interior Design.
Kim was very active in the Champaign community. She belonged to St. Matthew's Catholic Church, was an avid supporter of the Spurlock Museum at the University of Illinois, and was involved with multiple fundraising and charity events, both currently and during her time as a member of the Champaign-Urbana Junior League.
Her generosity and pure heart touched many lives and was also evident to anyone who had the fortunate chance of knowing her. Kim will be remembered for her love of life, kindness, gentle heart, and tireless devotion to family.
She is survived by her husband, Gregory; children, Tatiana and Alexis Freund; her parents; C. Acker and Rosalind Smith; siblings, Charles Smith and Pamela Perkins; sister-in-laws, Debbie Smith and Nina Freund; brother-in-laws, Craig Perkins and Bailey Freund; nieces and nephews; and her many wonderful and special friends.
The memorial service will be held on July 18th at 10:00 AM at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Champaign, Illinois. Following the service there will be a reception at the Champaign Country Club.
