I am so sorry for your loss.. Aunt Phyllis was a kind and wonderful woman.. I realize we did not keep in touch with you all over the years, but I exchanged Xmas cards on a regular basis with her, and think of her often when I make the families favorite dish we call Aunt Phyllis's chicken.. My sympathy to you all Love, Debbie ( Gene's daughter)

Phyllis was a wonderful person
and had many good qualities.
I admired her ability to state
her view of things clearly and
with conviction, but to do so
charitably, i.e., in a loving
way.
I will always be proud sharing
the Chapin name with her; the
same hometown; the same house.
So many memories....May God bless her and all of her loved ones.
MAY SHE REST IN PEACE.

I always felt a close personal connection to this wonderful woman, whose openness, warmth, humility, love of people, sense of humor, and twinkle in her eye made each visit special. I will always carry a little of Phyllis with me.

I will always remember Mrs. Stickels' smile and humor. I loved to talk to her when she came into Kaufmann's just to "look around". I will always remember the time when Sue couldn't go on vacation with us-I'm not sure who cried more-Sue, myself, or her MOM.

At holiday time and at my birthday, I would look forward to the greeting card and lengthy note penned on the inside flap of the card from Phyllis (and from my dear uncle, Barney).
Phyllis would chat about the weather in Tonawanda, her latest trip, garden flowers,
lunch with her lady friends,
and whatever was on her mind.
Often she would include a highlight or two about my cousins and their children.
She would ask what was new with me and hoped I was well.
I appreciated greatly the time she took to sit down and compose these notes especially during the years of my mother's lengthy illness.
I loved her dearly and will miss her notes, laughter, and conversation in the days ahead.
At our last visit with her on July 18th, my sister, Donna, and I heard Phyllis exclaimed more than once that she was proud to be approaching her 91st birthday.
And, she made it to that special date of August 9th - and a few days beyond it.
Rest in peace beside my uncle.
You will be remembered with joy.

One thing I remember about Phyllis was the pleasure she took in having luncheon parties. Tracy and I would meet her at Pinehurst on occasion and have cheery conversations.
I never saw her more happy for company, though, than when I went to visit her at St. John's Home. The first time I went, her eyes nearly popped out of her head when she saw me. I looked into her face and saw joy!
I took delight in trying to make her smile or laugh. Life can be pretty serious sometimes, so I'd take the challenge. I aimed to be just a little outrageous, in a ladylike way. It usually worked pretty well.

Aunt Phyllis was a beautiful woman with a big, warm smile. I last saw her in Dryden in July of 2008 and she gave me her usual big hug. She always had time to ask about family and friends. I remember thinking i should look so good at 90 years young! I recall the annual visits back to the farm and her hometown where she grew up and the fun we had when the Stickels family visited. May she rest in peace.

I have very fond memories of my Aunt Phyllis. She was a very caring and generous aunt who visited us at the farm each summer with Uncle Barney and my cousins Barry, Suzy, and Tracy. I still have jewelry that she gave me. It is timeless as are my memories of her. I will miss her newsy cards and photos that she would send.
