Aunt Shirley always struck me as genuine and decent, even before I knew what such things meant. Sadly, living where we do prevented us from participating in many of the events that would have brought us into Shirley's orbit, we are diminished for it. It seems my childhood view was accurate and now her sunny spirit will live on in memory and the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Be well one and all.

To all the family,
I am deeply saddened by Shirl's passing. She was a good friend to me, during our wonderful childhood on Post Avenue and throughtout the years as I remained close with her children and grandchildren. Whenever I came to visit, Shirley often greeted me as "Laura Jean", always with a big smile and a very heartfelt greeting. I felt like I belonged in her home along with her children. She was genuinely close to Mary and Jim's friends, and I loved going to see her.
You will all be in my thoughts and prayers during this time, and I know that your love of each other will get you through what seems to be unbelievable and impossible that she won't be here anymore.
Love you lots,
Laura Jean

Every once in awhile we are blessed with special people in life and Shirley was that person.
May she live in all our hearts, may we strive to carry all that she taught us. You will be greatly missed.
