Obituary of Dorothy M. Lindblom

Dorothy M. Lindblom, of Mendon, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at the Hildabrandt Hospice in Rochester after a long illness. She was 68. Dorothy was born the daughter of Arvid and Mamie Hannula Anderson on February 13, 1943 in Evanston, IL She attended Michigan State. She is survived by her husband of 43 years Ken Lindblom; her beloved Golden Retriever Lulu; brother, Tom Anderson and his wife Lois and their two children, Tom Anderson Jr. and Lois Ann Glass. Predeceased by her brothers, Robert and Ted Anderson, surviving wives Sharon and Estele and their children Paul and Dan, Claude, Jon, David, and Kathy and many grand children. Dorothy had a great sense of humor, loved people and always put them before herself. She was a gourmet cook, loved animals, outdoor activities including camping, canoeing, hiking, fly fishing, and gardening. Dorothy loved graphics and design and utilized her expertise to start her own desk top publishing and graphics business where she designed and produced several newsletters, catalogs and books. She then took a quilting class and eventually opened her own quilt shop - The Mendon Village Quilt Shop. She later gained a partner - Kathleen York and they then moved the business to Honeoye Falls under the new name of The Village quilt shop. Dorothy was a member of the Genesee Valley Quilt Club, Show and Tell Quilters, the Mendon Business Association and the Ventura Publisher Users Group. No prior calling. Friends may attend Services, Saturday, April 9, 2011 at the Honeoye Falls United Methodist Church, corners of East and Church St. at 10:30 am.
