Walter Alcorn

Obituary of Walter G. Alcorn

Walter G (Mike) Alcorn went home in the loving arms of Jesus early December 23, 2019 after a short illness. Born March 30, 1956 to Harry S and Millicent (Irvine) Alcorn in Framingham, MA. Mike was the youngest of five siblings. Mike was a graduate of Framingham South High School, class of 1974 and Boston University, class of 1978. Upon graduating from BU with degrees in English Literature and Journalism, he ventured out across the country with two friends on bicycles and made it as far as Denver when weather halted the journey. Mike took a job with a computer company that would eventually lead him to corporate America at Eastman Kodak in Rochester, NY. It was at Kodak that he met the love of his life, Luanne Gursslin. They were married in 1995. Together, they turned Mike's long time hobby of home-brewing into a successful craft beer business for 22 years in western New York. In 2003, Mike and Luanne completed their family when they welcomed three sons, Jovan (Brianna), Jonathan, and Joshua, into their life. A beloved member of the Honeoye Falls and Mendon communities, Mike was involved in his sons' school and sports, as well as many church and civic activities. Mike was predeceased by his parents, a brother, Richard S. Alcorn of Massachusetts and two sisters, Margaret Drummey of Massachusetts and Gail Bodwell of Maine. Along with his wife and sons, Mike is survived by his granddaughter, Lilianna Marie Alcorn, his sister, Deborah Gottas of California, several nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as many friends dating back to his elementary school years. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mercy Flight Central, 2420 Brickyard Road, Canandaigua, NY 14424 in his memory.
