Obituary of William R. Hartman
William Ragan Hartman, 77, of Honeoye Falls, passed away on October 29, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Carol, of 50 years; sons, William R. Hartman (Roseann) of Endicott, NY, and Andrew W. Hartman ( Rosemary) of Bridgeville, DE; 3 grandchildren, Elaine, Andrew and Joe Hartman, his brother, James A. Hartman of Lincoln, ME, and several cousins.
In 1959 Bill earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University and in 1965 a Masters of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin.
From February 1960 to January 1966 Bill Hartman served in the 2nd corps of the 1st Army. He became a Specialist 5.
Bill worked for 33 years at the Xerox Corporation. Much of his time at Xerox was spent in product development. In 1981, Bill came to the Industrial Design/Human Interface Department as Manager of Operability, Test and Design, and in 1985 he became Manager and later Director of this department until he retired on January 1, 1999.
On March 29, 2003, Bill was raised a Master Mason in the Union Star Lodge #320. He was also a dual member of the St. Marks-Vestal Lodge #435. He was one of five generations of Freemasons in his family.
Bill had a passion for steam trains, WW II airplanes, antique automobiles, boats, mechanical clocks and music. In his later years he was happiest when he was designing and implementing various projects and being surrounded by his family.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2013, at 2 pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Honeoye Falls, 27 N. Main Street, Honeoye Falls, NY.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Mendon Public Library Capital Fund (22 N. Main St.) or to the Music Fund of the First Presbyterian Church of Honeoye Falls (PO Box568).
Bill will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
